A silver-mounted coconut shell

Parcel-gilt silver mountings. Shallow shell with a moulded ring-shaped mounting. The mounting around the upper rim smooth on the inner face and with foliate engravings to the outer face. With a curved handle engraved with tendrils surrounding a pomegranate motif. The base of the shell with a gold cuff with corresponding tendril motifs and a central pierced medallion of a crab and two fish. The outer mounting connected to the base with three engraved clamps. The base screw-mounted to the crab mounting in the centre. Unidentified marks (in Jawi?) to the handle. H 5, W 17.6 cm.
Attributed to South East Asia, 17th C.
