South German early 17th century

A South German carved wood figure of the Virgin, early 17th century

Carved in the round. With older polychromy. Standing figure of a female saint on a small round plinth, designed for a frontal viewpoint. The clothing allows the figure to be identified as the Virgin Mary.
Parts of the forearms lost, the tip of the nose and the deeply carved lock of hair replaced, a vertical crack on the left. Height 71 cm.
