Marmor. This pair of reliefs depicts allegories of death and the hope for eternal life. On the reverse, they each bear labels attributing them to the painter and sculptor Johann Martin von Wagner, who was active in Rome as of 1810 as art consultant to the Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig.
Each with hairline cracks, abrasions and surface soiling. The thin marble reliefs are backed with plaster panels and set into wooden surrounds. Each 20 x 28 cm.
