A painted enamel on copper dish. Mid-18th century

Painted in famille rose colours to the well with a finger-citron and a pair of peaches surrounded by flowers including a chrysanthemum, within a narrow yellow border of flowers and scrolls, the wall with a wider border of bats and clouds on a mauve-coloured ground with a fine pattern of octagons; to the reverse flowers and leafy scrolls on a yellow ground and at the base a blue phoenix on a yellow ground.
