An elaborate silver and Shibayama-inlaid plate. Late 19th century

The central ivory disc with a pair of mandarin ducks in a pond with iris and water plants underneath a blossoming cherry tree and chrysanthemums, profusely inlaid with mother-of-pearl, stained bone, tortoise shell and coral, the rim rendered in silver filigree with twelve silver birds with details in translucent enamel. The base of nashiji, signed in relief Hideaki on an inlaid mother-of-pearl tablet. Along the crack of the disc several losses of the inlay.
