A sectional, lightly stained ivory okimono of a guardian figure with two oni. Late 19th century

Standing on an oval base, with both hands lifting a floundering oni, at his feet an oni lying on its back, which the guardian apparently has toppled, the adornments of helmet and armour inlaid with mother-of-pearl, coral and other materials. Signed Shunkin on an inlaid red lacquer tablet.
