A large boxwood netsuke of oni no senbei. 18th/19th century

Standing with a long kanabo and biting into a rice cracker (senbei), he wears a loin cloth and tiger skin apron and garters of tiger skin. The eyes pupils of black horn. Chip to one claw and a few traces of old wear with good patina. Inside the himotōshi paper label with printed collector's number.
Height 8.5 cm

This rare depiction is intended to show that even a ferocious oni, who knows how to handle an iron club, has a childlike heart and enjoys a simple senbei.
