A cut and gilt glass goblet with the "Three Emperors"

Round base with a gold wreath motif on the underside supporting a faceted shaft and polygonal cup engraved on the reverse "Kaiser Wilhelm I Friedrich III Wilhelm II". Minor wear to the gilding. H 22.8 cm.
The glass attributed to Steinschönau (Kamenický Šenov), decor tentatively attributed to Karl Pfohl, 1888.

1888 went down in Prussian history as the "Year of the Three Emperors". Emperor Wilhelm I, proclaimed in Versailles in 1871, died on 9 March. He was succeeded as Emperor Frederick III by his son Frederick William, who was already seriously ill with throat cancer. Frederick died on 15 June after reigning for 99 days. His eldest son Frederick William then ascended the throne as Emperor William II.
