A Berlin KPM plate from the dinner service for Berlin Palace

Model no. 189. Decorated with a bouquet of wildflowers and grasses, the lip and rim with flowers and moths. Blue sceptre mark, impressed mark K3. A small restored rim chip, scratches. D 24.6 cm.
1768.

In January and February 1768, Frederick II commissioned his porcelain manufactory to produce a service of "36 table settings" for the Berlin Palace. It was to be "colourfully painted with naturalistic flowers and a few insects along with a golden border". The service was delivered in the same year, on 17th December. In March 1773, the service was supplemented by a subsequent delivery of "72 dinner plates etc.".
