A Berlin KPM porcelain dessert plate from a dinner service for Prince Heinrich

Model no. 189. Decorated with finely painted flowers and insects. Blue sceptre mark, impressed marks. D 24.5 cm.
Around 1765.

The court of Prince Heinrich (1726 - 1802) at Rheinsberg Castle is recorded as having used a service with a 'capuchin brown' border and floral decor. The prince ordered a service for his festive banquets that was similar to that used by his brother, King Frederick II, without competing with it. The service is painted much more simply than that produced contemporaneously for Berlin Palace.

Provenance

Private collection, Berlin.
