A parcel gilt Nuremburg silver beaker commemorating the Peace of Westphalia

Tapering beaker with moulded rim. Decorated with etched garlands of fruit alternating with emblems of vanity in oval reserves and memento mori inscriptions. The third reserve etched with symbols of peace and inscriptions referencing the Peace of Westphalia, dated 1801. H 7.8 cm, weight 109 g.
Marks of Stefan Winckler, around 1650.

This maker's mark with a unicorn and a star was formerly attributed to Marx Burmeister. For more on this see cat. GNM 2007, no. 116 and 1058.
