A French lacquer toilette box

With gilt copper mountings and iron lock. Box of serpentine section with chamferred edges. Painted throughout with Régence designs, the lid with a depiction of an elegant couple in a garden, the inside of the lid mounted with a coloured engraving of a camel. Wear to the polychromy, especially to the edges, a retouched crack upper right. H 13.5, W 31.5, D 23.5 cm.
