Two folios from a Ragamala series. Deccan, Golconda/Hyderabad. Around 1780

a) Vilavali Ragini. A lady sits in a palace in anticipation of the arrival of her lover and puts on ear jewelery, in front of her a female servant holding a mirror, in the garden a water basin, fountain and flower beds. b) Kakuba-Ragini. The heroine tormented by the separation from her beloved has fled into solitude. On a meadow she plays on a vina thereby attracting five peacocks. Red border. Colours and gold on paper. Matted, framed and glazed.
