A Ratanakosin gilt and lacquered bronze figure of Phra Malai. Thailand. Early 19th century

Seated in meditation on a lotus cushion above a stepped base supported by rakshasa, the plinth with the twelve animals of the zodiac each within a medallion. The right hand rests on the knee, the left forming a fist to hold a talapattra, the robe covered with a fine scroll pattern.
