An ivory netsuke of a Dutchman with a rooster. Early 19th century

The slender figure stands tall on long legs, the face with a grotesque expression turned upwards, both hands holding a rooster which is lifting its wing, the hem of the coat typically decorated with a wave pattern. Brim of the hat and the roosters crest chipped, the feathers of the hat missing.
