An Edo boxwood netsuke of a meditating Daruma by Shumin. Mid-19th century

Seated in meditation, his head covered by his loosely worn robe which reveals his chest and protruding belly, the ear rings and the lining of the himotoshi of ivory, the smaller one stained green. Signed Shumin. Chipped along the garment folds.
