A Ise-Yamada wood netsuke of a tanuki smothering a hunter by Masakazu. Second half 19th century

A tanuki pinning a hunter to the ground with his huge scrotum, the hunter looking up from under sack with an angry expression, the underside finely carved and showing the hunter's straw cap and rifle with a metal inlay at the stock. Chip and one foreleg of the tanuki restored.
Height 2.8 cm; width 3.5 cm
