Thangka with Vajra-Heruka in yab-yum. Tibet. 19th century

Appearing in a flaming mandorla, the wrathful, winged protector deity with his wisdom partner Vajra-Krodesvari. In his primary hands he holds vajra and ghanta, in the secondary hands khatvanga, damaru, antra (intestines) and kapala. To the side of the yidam eight wrathful Keurima and eight animal-headed Phramenma deities are manifested. Vajradhara appearing above, to his right Tsongkhapa, to his left Manjushri. Mantra and an inscription to the back. Traces of wear.
