In high relief with a flared plinth and a flattened back panel. The large fígure of the Virgin is depicted enthroned and turned slightly to the right, she grips a cross-shaped brooch in her right hand. The nude Child lies over her left knee and holds a bird in his left hand. The Virgin is clothed in a veil and floor-length robes with deep folds. The group is flanked by two angels who hold a cloth spread out behind the Virgin. The composition, physiognomies and style all point to mid 15th century northern Italy.
