An ivory okimono of Chôkarô Sennin. Late 19th century

An ivory okimono of Chôkarô Sennin standing on an oval base, holding a staff, a horse jumping out of a gourd tied to the staff, in the right hand the gourd's stopper, at the back a very large woven travelling hat. Details inlaid in mother-of-pearl, stained bone, and tortoise shell. Signed Hôzan on an inlaid red lacquer tablet. One finger replaced, crack to the base. Late 19th century.
