A bronze vase. Mid-20th century

A bronze vase of cylindrical shape with angular handles and intersecting loops in relief, signed Tomioyasu at the base. Tomobako, inscribed shudô tsutsugata hanaire, signed Tomiyasu and sealed: Yasu. Mid-20th century.
Height 29.5 cm

Aida Tomiyasu (1901-1987) studied metal casting under Yamamoto Azumi. He joined the Kosaikai art research society in 1942, eventually becoming its chairman. After the Pacific War, he was an active exhibitor at the Nitten, of which he became a board director and counselor. In 1948, his Nitten piece won the tokusen or grand prize.
