A very large Ayutthaya sandstone head of a Buddha with a serene expression, the eyes lowered in meditation, the eyes and lips with a double contour line, above the lips a thin moustache, the head and ushnisha covered by regular rows of small curls, the ushisha carved separately with a ketumala base surrounded by petals, at the left shoulder multiple folds of a garment. Remains of black lacquer behind the ears.16th century. Mounted.
