A men's 18k gold ring with a neoclassical intaglio.

The transluscent chalcedony (ca. 23 x 19 mm) finely carved with a depiction of a mythological sacrificial scene of two men before an altar of friendship. The ring size changed, wear to the band. Top of ring H 2.6 cm. Weight 20.1 g.
Late 18th / early 19th C., the setting possibly later.

A fine example of sentimental neoclassical gem carving, stylistically related to the works of Giovanni Pichler.
