An Amsterdam tortoiseshell-bound bible with 18ct gold mountings.

A licensed gilt-edged Bible made by the Provincial Kerkbestuur van Noord-Holland with the municipal arms and signature of the city of Amsterdam, dated 16th May 1865. The three tortoiseshell elements connected via 11 gold rivets, neoclassical ornaments to the two hinged clasps. Little signs of use, slight stains to the inner cover of the book, a short tear to the upper section of the spine. 16.4 x 11.5 x 6.3 cm.
