A four-case inrô. First half 20th century

A four-case inrô displaying a monkey climbing up a spider's web on one side, and its mate and young gesticulating on the ground underneath a fruit bearing peach tree on the reverse, in gold makie, red lacquer and kirikane on a kinji ground, nashiji to the interior, signed Shiken Shôzan saku. First half 20th century.
Height 9.3 cm

Takano Shôzan (1889-1976) is one of the most important makie artists of the 20th century. He received the title of Keeper of Intangible Cultural Property in 1955.
