A fahua glazed pottery jar. Ming dynasty, 16th century

A fahua-glazed pottery jar with a reticulated outer layer featuring a peony band at the shoulder, opposing groups of seated scholars amid pine trees above a jeweled lappet band around the waisted base, all picked out in white, yellow and turquoise glazes on a dark blue glazed ground. Neck replaced with brackets. Ming dynasty, 16th century.
