A large red lacquer circular box and cover, decorated at the top with a scholar, perhaps the poet Tao Yuanming, with two attendants in a landscape with a lake and mountains. The sides showing scholar's objects in cartouches. The interior and the bottom lacquered black. Some restorations and damages. 18th/19th century.
