A Tibetan thangka of Vajra-Heruka in yab yum. Early 20th century

A finely painted Tibetan thangka of Vajra-Heruka embracing his partner, while striding in alidhasana on prostrate figures over a lotus base, holding a vajra and ghanta in his primary hands with the others outstretched. The three ferocious faces backed by outstretched wings and an aureole of flames, surrounded by four emanations of the same deity. The top register depicting Buddha Shakyamuni and lamas and monks to his sides. Guardian deities to the lower border. Gouache and gold paint on cloth. With Tibetan inscriptions beneath the figures and silk brocade mounting. Early 20th century.
