A unusual Kyoto Satsuma vase. Around 1900

A unusual Kyoto Satsuma vase painted in enamels and gold with women and children collecting fireflies in a river landscape with pleasure boats under a full moon. At the base marked in gold: Dai Nihon Kyôto tojiki gôshi kaisha Ryôzan. Around 1900.
Height 30.2 cm

The mark refers to the Yasuda Kyoto Ceramic Joint Stock Co., in Shirakawa suji, Sanjo sagaru in Kyoto and displays the Yasuda trade mark. Ryôzan (=Nakamura Tatsunosuke) was the best painter of this company. He studied under Nishimura Zengorô.
