A partially gilt Augsburg silver cup and cover made for the Leonberg cooper's guild

A partially gilt Augsburg silver cup and cover made for the Leonberg cooper's guild. The 12 engraved guild plaques suspended from lion mascarons, dated 1729 - 1735. Engraved with the names of various guild members, the newest dated 1828. The foot probably early 19th C. Marks of Johann David I Schäffler, 1724 - 28. H 30 cm, weight 752 g.

Most of the names engraved on the plaques are of coopers active in Leonberg around 1730. The guild appears to have commissioned the uninscribed chalice in Augsburg and the individual plaques with a local goldsmith in the town of Calw, located 20 km from Leonberg.
