An early Fabergé interior gilt silver tankard. Marks of August Wilhelm Holmström, St. Petersburg, 1859. H 20.5 cm, weight 436 g.

August Wilhelm Holmström was chief jeweller under Gustav Fabergé as of 1857.

Provenance

According to tradition, the piece was originally part of the inventory of the Jagdschloss Gelbensande and was gived as a present by Grand Duchess Anastasia of Mecklenburg-Schwerin to her illegitimate son Alexis Louis von Wenden (1902 - 76).
