A Bengali horizontal stone stele of Shiva Grahapati, his mother Sucishmati with a lotus flower in her hand resting languidly on a bed with her son Grhapati lying to her side and a female attendant massaging her foot, two other attendants standing at the narrow end of the bed and fanning her, above a yoni linga, Ganesha, Ambika and another deity, ritual objects underneath the bed. Pala dynasty, 10th century.

Compare very similar stele, published in: Stella Kramrisch, Manifestations of Shiva, Philadelphia 1981, p. 83, no. 68 and in: Claudine Bautze-Picron, The Art of Eastern India, Berlin 1998, p. 93, cat. no. 257, were the female figure is identified as Gauri with Sadyojata Shiva. A similar stele was sold in these rooms on 7./8.6.2002, lot 57
