A very large Thai gilded bronze figure of Buddha standing with hands crossed over his abdomen, with circular pegs underneath the feet, the black lacquer gilded and missing in some areas. Early 19th century.Tall black wooden stand.
Height without ketumala 126 cm

A Buddha image for those born on Sunday. He is represented in a pensive and mindful attitude. According to Thai tradition the Buddha contemplated his nirvana for seven days under a bodhi tree, thereafter he rose and looked at the tree without blinking for another seven days.
