A Korean Kohiki chawan. 16th century

A Korean Kohiki chawan of conical shape with a whitish, finely crackled, thin glaze, four spur marks to the inside. Lacquer restoration. 16th century. Silk bag and wooden box, the paper label inscribed Katade chawan, the inscription at the reverse of the lid reading Korai chawan Sôsetsu with kaô.

The hakogaki was written by Kawakami Sôsetsu IX.
