A large Maharashtra/Karnataka copper alloy ritual ladle. 19th century

A large Maharashtra/Karnataka copper alloy ritual ladle for use in a Shiva temple, with a round bowl decorated to the outside with figures, and to the handle with Nandis and yoni lingas. 19th century.
Length 66 cm

Such ceremonial ladles were filled with ghee (ghrita), used to kindle the ritual fire in Shiva temples.
