A Ratanakosin lacquered and gilded bronze figure of a reclining Buddha lying on his right side, the body supported by a flat cushion, the left arm outstreched, and feet held in walking position. On a long rectangular lotus cushion above an ornamented base. Restoration to the face, some areas lacquered over in black. Early 19th century. Wooden base.
Height 47.5 cm; length 131.5 cm; depth 49 cm

This representation of the Buddha is called "realizing nirvana" (pang sai yat) and is assigned to a specific day of the week - Tuesday. Religious texts state that the Buddha entered parinirvana on this day of the week.
