A Nepalese thangka of Mahakala. 19th century

The wrathful four-armed Mahakala standing on a prostrate figure, holding kartrika, kapala, sword and khatvanga in his hands, backed by an aureole of flames and flanked by two small Mahakala figures, surrounded by charnel ground scenes, the Five Dhyani Buddhas at the top. Gouache on cloth. Inscriptions to the reverse. Framed and glazed.
