A pair of carved red lacquer vases. 18th/19th century

The globular vases carved on a metal body with four medallions enclosing scenes of scholars in mountainous landscapes under trees, the long necks with lotus and peony branches reserved from a densely patterned flower ground. The interior and the bottom lacquered black. Wooden stands. (2)
