A large, round lacquered box. 19th/20th century

Decorated with a bird perching on a flowering chrysanthemum surrounded by a foliate border with flowers and the four accomplishments, siyi, together with a one line inscription from the Tang dynasty poet Yang Juyuan, signed Jin Sheng (active end 19th/20th century). Red-lacquered basketwork panels to the sides. Covered with remains of a transparent, brownish lacquer. The inside re-lacquered black.
