A Sinotibetan gilt bronze figure of an arhat. 18th century

Seated on a double-cushioned throne incised with flower and scroll decorations, clad in heavy robes, the hems incised with a foliate pattern. Base open.
Height 13 cm

Representations of arhats such as the present work were likely part of a larger set of twenty-five, including Buddha Shakyamuni, his disciples Shariputra and Maudgalyayana, the sixteen arhats, the patron Hvashang, a lay attendant Dharmatala, and the guardians of the four directions.
