A Berlin KPM porcelain vase with a view of Babelsberg Palace

With original gilt metal mountings. Model no. 1606 with griffon's head handles. Fired in two parts and screw-mounted. Decorated to both sides with gilt trompe l'oeil frames around square reserves depicting views of the palace from the front and back, inscribed to the inside of the neck. The back view thought to be after a painting by Carl Graeb. Blue sceptre mark with circle, red imperial orb mark, impressed V, the screw engraved and dated 1857 and 10. With older bronze retouches over damage to the griffon's heads. H ca. 56 cm.
