An 18k gold and sardonyx cameo bracelet

Designed as a band of solid plaquettes with braided decor and connecting rings. The large stepped clasp set with a four layered white and brown sardonyx cameo (ca. 30 x 22 mm). Finely cut in partial high relief depicting Bacchus in a vine leaf crown shouldering a ram. The removable clasp can be worn as a pendant. In the original fitted red leather case. Clasp: H 4, W 3.5 cm. Bracelet: W 4 cm. Total L: 16.5 cm. Total weight 108.6 g.
Presumably Italian, first half 19th C.

The finely carved cameo is based on an Italian Neoclassical design.
