Two small oval Satsuma lidded boxes, both painted in enamels and gold with a) Chinese ladies and a boy carrying a koto wrapped in cloth, and scrolls and mon in gold on a dark blue ground, marked Nanbu, and b) with obon dancers and spectators, to the inside with flower sprays and swallows, signed Kyoto Meizan. Late 19th century. (2)
