A vernis Martin bonbonnière with a miniature

Round dark lacquer box with guilloche decor. The rims of the lid and base with fine gold piqué borders. The lid inset with a round miniture in a gilt copper frame under domed glass depicting a landscape after a 17th century Dutch painting. With tortoiseshell lining. Craquelure to the miniature, dents and minor losses of pigment to the rims. H 2 cm. Diameter 7.6 cm.
