A mother-of-pearl and lacquer tonkotsu. Late 19th century

In shape of a pouchformed by two awabi shells joined together with lacquer, decorated to the side with the round lid with a hare pounding mochi with a pestle amidst autumn grasses, on the reverse more autumn grasses, all in gold lacquer, brown lacquer and gold foil, the cord holes lines with silver. A few losses. Large ojime of horn.
