A Sinotibetan black-ground thangka of Pehar. 19th century

The wrathful protector with three faces and six arms riding a lion, who is believed to have been bound by an oath to protect all Tibetan Buddhist monasteries and temples, holding a bow and arrow, two swords, a vajra hook and a sceptre in his hands, and wearing a cymbal-shaped hat (tipshu). Inscription to the reverse. Gouache on cloth. Framed and glazed.
