A finely carved ivory brushpot. Possibly Canton. 18th/early 19th century

The exterior densely carved in various levels in relief with a continuous city scape with numerous ladies and men of differing ages at various activities. Around the foot a border with flowers and fruits. Set onto a separately carved stand of ivory with a beaded border and flowers and scroll in openwork.
