A boxwood netsuke of a rat on a pomegranate by Alexander Derkachenko

Its tail curled around the top of the ripe fruit which splits open revealing the seeds on the inside. The rat's eyes of black coal, the seeds of red-coloured glass. Signed with the artist's initials DA on an oval mammoth ivory tablet to the back.
