A four-case inro. 18th century

Signed: Kanyosai, and signed additionally on a mother-of-pearl tablet on the inside
Tagayasa wood with curved top and bottom. In two-colour gold hiramakie to takamakie with a little red and inlays of white mother-of-pearl, shakudo, coral and malachite. A pair of tanchozuru cranes beneath young bamboo stems with a chick at their feet standing upright and flapping its wings. On the reverse young bamboo stems with stones of malachite and coral. The inside polished mat, emphasising the wood’s characteristic structure. Tiger eye ojime.
