A four-case inrô. 19th century

Displaying a seated cat with a striped fur reaching out for a butterfly and a flowering bush extending to the reverse with a further butterfly in gold and silver hiramakie, black lacquer, togidashi and a little hirame on a reddish brown lacquer ground. Nashiji and fundame to the inside, each compartment inscribed in black 'Shi', 'So', 'Cho' and 'Mei'. Signed: Tatsuke Kokosai.
